Silestone Fence Installation: The Orange County Owner’s Guide

Silestone fence installation in Orange County typically costs between $3,500 and $9,000, depending on the panel configuration, substrate condition, and whether the existing framework can be reused. We stock Silestone-compatible fence components and can usually start most installations within a week of your estimate. Homeowners usually discover the problem the same way: a panel starts to bow, a corner joint opens up, or the bottom rail begins to separate from the post after a few seasons of Southern California sun and occasional heavy rain.

Which Silestone Models This Applies To

Silestone’s exterior fence line wears a few different names depending on the series and year, but the mounting system is what matters. Most Orange County homes we service have either the original Silestone panel system with the hidden clip-and-rail hardware or the later generation with a visible aluminum channel. The quickest way to identify yours is to look at the underside of the top rail: if you see a continuous slot with spring clips, that’s the first generation. If you see screws through a raised channel, that’s the second. The panel thickness also matters, and here’s the gotcha we see constantly: Silestone fence panels measure 19mm thick on the first generation and 24mm on the second, and the rails are not interchangeable. Homeowners who buy a replacement panel online without measuring thickness end up with a panel that won’t seat in the track, which is why we confirm the measurement before ordering anything.

For replacements, we recommend OEM Silestone panels when they’re still in production for your series. When a series has been discontinued, which is common with the early-2000s lines, a quality aftermarket panel machined to the same thickness and clip spacing works, but the color match will not be exact. We’ll tell you that before you spend a dollar, and we’ll show you samples under daylight so there are no surprises.

Signs Your Silestone Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Panel bowing between posts. This is the most common failure in Orange County, and it’s almost always the sun. Prolonged UV exposure causes the panel core to expand and contract, and if the original installer didn’t leave expansion gaps at each end, the panel has nowhere to go and bows outward.
  • Bottom rail pulling away from the post. Water sits at the base of the post during winter rains, especially in low-lying areas like Fountain Valley or Garden Grove. The post anchors corrode slowly, and the rail starts to sag. You’ll see a visible gap where the rail meets the post face.
  • Cracked or chipped panel corners. Impact damage from landscape equipment or windblown debris. The corners are the weak point because that’s where the clip pocket is thinnest.
  • Rattling or buzzing panels on windy days. The spring clips have lost tension or were installed backwards. A panel that moves in the wind is wearing its mounting holes larger every season.
  • Rust streaks below the top rail. The rail screws on some aftermarket installations aren’t stainless. The streaking is cosmetic at first, but the screws eventually seize and the rail can’t be removed without cutting.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Installed Silestone fence work in Orange County runs $3,500 to $9,000. A straight panel swap on sound posts and rails with matching OEM material usually lands between $3,500 and $5,000. The number climbs when the posts themselves have to be reset, which means new concrete footings and potentially new rails. A full run replacement with new posts, rails, panels, and hardware starts around $6,500 and goes up based on linear footage and site access. Our written price includes material, labor, haul-away of the failed components, and a written workmanship guarantee. No change orders, no surprise line items. Trevor Nash’s rule applies here: give you the number first, then pick up the tool.

DIY or Call Us?

Fence panel replacement is not high-tension, so I won’t scare you away from it. You can safely check some things: look at the clip spacing along the top rail, measure the panel thickness with a simple tape measure, and confirm whether the posts wobble by hand. If the posts are solid and only a panel or two is damaged, some homeowners in Orange County do handle the swap themselves, but the problem area is the hidden clip system. If a clip snaps off inside the track, you need an extraction tool and patience, and if you crack the track itself, you’ve turned a $400 panel job into a $1,800 rail replacement. We also see homeowners order the wrong thickness panel, and now the return shipping and restocking costs more than our labor would have. If you’re not sure, call (424) 541-1701 and we’ll talk you through what you’re looking at. The estimate’s free either way.
