ECO Window Systems Kitchen Remodeling: The Orange County Owner’s Guide

If you have ECO Window Systems windows or doors in your Orange County kitchen and you’re planning a remodel, expect the window and door portion of the job to run between $1,500 and $6,000 depending on how many openings you’re replacing, whether you’re resizing rough openings, and what finish work is needed around them. We stock the flashings, trim kits, and sill pans that match ECO Window Systems profiles, and we can usually have parts on hand within three to five business days. Most Orange County homeowners discover an issue when they pull a window trim piece during a cabinet teardown and find water staining at the sill, or when a garden window that’s been leaking for years finally gets pulled and the framing underneath needs replacement before new cabinets can go in.

We’re an independent remodeling contractor in Orange County, not affiliated with ECO Window Systems. That’s worth saying plainly, because it means we can be honest about what to reuse, what to replace, and when the original window is worth saving instead of swapping.

Which ECO Window Systems Models This Applies To

ECO Window Systems manufactures vinyl and aluminum window lines distributed across Southern California, and we see them most often in 1980s through early-2000s kitchen builds in Anaheim, Fullerton, Mission Viejo, and Huntington Beach. The label on the window sash or frame edge is your best reference: it will show the series code, glass package, and manufacture date. If the label is gone (common after years of sun exposure), measure the jamb depth and the glass thickness. ECO’s double-glazed units typically sit at 7/8″ overall glass thickness, and their vinyl frames run 2-3/4″ to 3-1/4″ jambs depending on whether the home was stucco or siding.

The practical question during a kitchen remodel is usually this: do we keep the existing ECO windows and work around them, or replace them while the walls are open? Here’s what we’ve learned from doing this in Orange County for years. If the window has a failed seal (fog between panes) or a crank-out operator that’s stripped, you’ll spend $400 to $900 per opening for glass or hardware. If the frame itself is water-damaged at the sill, replacement is almost always cheaper than surgical framing repair once you factor in stucco patching on the exterior. We stock self-stick sill flashing and sloped sill pans that match ECO profiles, and we carry aftermarket operators and balance assemblies for the most common casement and single-hung series. You don’t pay OEM markup for a part that’s identical in spec, and we’ll tell you when OEM is actually the better call.

Signs Your ECO Window Systems Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing

  • Fog or condensation between the glass panes. This means the edge seal on the insulated glass unit has failed. Once that seal goes, the argon or krypton fill escapes and the window loses most of its thermal efficiency. In Orange County’s coastal humidity, failed seals show up faster than in the drier inland areas.
  • Water staining or soft drywall under the window. The flashing or sill pan was either installed incorrectly or has degraded. We pull the window during a kitchen remodel and find this more often than homeowners expect, especially in Anaheim and Garden Grove homes built before 1990 when sill pan flashing wasn’t standard practice.
  • Crank-out windows that slip or won’t stay open. The operator gear is stripped or the torque bar has wear. It’s a hardware issue, not a frame issue, so the window itself is usually salvageable.
  • Frames that are cracked, bowed, or visibly separating at the corners. Vinyl expands and contracts with temperature swings. After 25 or 30 years in Southern California sun, corner welds can fail. If the frame is compromised, it’s time to replace rather than repair.
  • Kitchen cabinets or counters that don’t align with the window opening. This isn’t technically a window failure, but it’s why kitchens get remodeled. If you’re moving a sink, adding a pass-through, or changing cabinet heights, the rough opening may need to be resized, which means pulling the window anyway. Even if your ECO window is in decent shape, it may not survive removal without the frame getting scored.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

New painted shaker cabinets with an organized deep drawer

In Orange County, expect to pay between $450 and $1,200 per window for full replacement including labor, frame, glass, trim, and exterior stucco patching. A complete kitchen remodel that includes window and door replacement alongside cabinets, counters, flooring, and lighting typically runs $14,000 to $45,000 in this market. The range is driven by three things: window count and size, whether the rough opening needs to change, and the finish work on both sides of the wall.

We give a written price before any work starts, and the number doesn’t change unless you change the scope. Every window we install carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing. If a window leaks, binds, or shows a failed seal within a year, we come back and fix it at no charge. We also install recognized trade brands like KraftMaid cabinetry, Cambria and Silestone quartz, and Kohler and Moen fixtures to match the windows, so the whole job carries layered warranties.

Scope Typical Orange County Installed Cost
Replace 1 to 2 kitchen windows $450 – $1,200 per window
Replace garden window (with stucco work) $1,200 – $2,400
Full kitchen remodel including windows $14,000 – $45,000
Cabinet installation $4,000 – $13,000
Countertop installation $2,000 – $6,500
Backsplash installation $800 – $2,500

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely pull trim, check for caulk failure around the exterior perimeter, and test crank operators for slippage. You should not try to remove, resize, or reflash a window yourself if the rough opening is involved. A window that’s incorrectly flashed lets water behind the stucco, and in Orange County that means mold inside the wall cavity within a season or two. The same goes for resizing an opening to fit new kitchen cabinetry: if the header above the window isn’t reworked correctly, the wall can sag and crack the tile you just paid to install.

This is the part where we give you the number first, then pick up the tool. Call (424) 541-1701, tell us what you’re seeing, and we’ll tell you what it costs to fix before we ever schedule a visit.
