Tremron Driveway & Pavers: The Orange County Owner’s Guide
If you have a Tremron paver driveway, walkway, or patio in Orange County and a section has shifted, cracked, or sunk, you’re not alone. We regularly install and replace Tremron pavers for homeowners from Irvine to Anaheim, and the typical paver driveway replacement or re-leveling job in Orange County runs $7,000 – $18,000 depending on square footage, base condition, and paver style. The part that usually “fails” isn’t the paver itself, it’s the base underneath it or the edge restraint that was never installed correctly the first time.
Which Tremron Pavers This Applies To

Tremron manufactures concrete pavers in dozens of styles, and Orange County homes lean heavily on three product lines: the Holland stone (a rectangular paver that mimics old European brick), the Mega-Arbel and Mega-Cobble (larger format stones that read more like natural flagstone), and the Sierra line (a tumbled paver with irregular edges). Each line has its own dimensional tolerance, which matters when you’re matching 15-year-old pavers to new ones. Tremron’s Holland pavers run about 4″ x 8″ x 60mm thick. The Mega-Arbel runs roughly 12″ x 12″ x 80mm. If you’re patching a section, thickness is the number that causes the most on-site arguments. An 80mm paver does not sit level next to a 60mm one without cutting the base differently.
One compatibility gotcha we’ve run into many times across Orange County: paver color lots change. Tremron’s “Sierra Blend” or “Chestnut Brown” from 2010 is not the same as the 2024 pour. Concrete absorbs the iron oxide pigments differently batch to batch. A patch job with a mismatched lot looks like a patch job. When we source Tremron pavers for a repair, we pull from multiple pallets and dry-lay the section before anything gets glued or compacted, so you see the color match before you pay for the install.
On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question: for driveway and paver work, Tremron is the standard because the shapes and thicknesses are proprietary enough that generic Big Box “lookalike” pavers rarely interlock the same way. The edge of a Tremron Holland stone has a slight bevel that affects the sand joint. An aftermarket stone without that bevel sits tighter or looser, and you feel it underfoot. When the job only needs the base rebuilt or the edge restraint replaced, we don’t care whose paver is on top. We rebuild it to carry any 60mm or 80mm concrete paver properly.

Signs Your Tremron Driveway & Pavers Are Failing
- A dip or birdbath in the middle of the driveway. This is almost always a base failure, not a paver failure. Rainwater ponds there, which accelerates settlement. In Orange County’s clay-heavy soils, the ground under a driveway expands and contracts seasonally. Without a proper 4″ to 6″ compacted aggregate base, that movement works its way up.
- Pavers rocking or clicking underfoot. A paver that rocks means the sand bedding underneath has washed out or settled. You hear it before you see it, especially on walkways. Left alone, the paver cracks at its weakest point.
- Weeds or grass growing through the joints. Joint sand was either never installed or has washed away. Once roots get established, they push pavers apart from below. In Orange County coastal zones with morning marine layer moisture, polyermeric sand alone isn’t enough, it needs a solid edge restraint too.
- Edge pavers spreading outward at the driveway lip. The plastic or concrete edge restraint is broken or missing. An unconfined paver edge is like an unzipped seam: the whole field starts walking sideways one tire turn at a time.
- Cracks running through multiple pavers in a line. This points to a structural issue under the stones, often an old tree root, a poorly backfilled utility trench, or an undersized base for the traffic load. Replacing the cracked pavers alone won’t fix it, the crack line will reappear in the new ones within a season.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included in Orange County

For a standard two-car paver driveway in Orange County, the replacement range is $7,000 – $18,000, and the spread is driven by three things: square footage, what we find under the old pavers when we pull them, and the Tremron style you’re matching or selecting. A simple re-level and re-sand of an existing paver surface might run $1,500 – $3,500 if the base is still sound. A full teardown with new compacted base, new sand bedding, fresh edge restraints, and the pavers re-laid is the higher end. If we’re installing new Tremron pavers and not reusing old ones, material alone can be $4 – $8 per square foot depending on the line and color.
Every Penhallow job comes with a written price before work starts, and it stays that price unless you change the scope. The line item list includes tear-out and haul-off, base excavation and re-compaction, sand bedding, paver material, installation labor, and edge restraint. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers our workmanship for a full year in writing: if a paver we set shifts or a joint we sanded washes out inside that window, we come back and fix it at no charge. No re-inspection fee, no service call.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely inspect your own Tremron driveway. Look for the signs above, take photos with a tape measure in frame for thickness confirmation, and check whether the edge restraint is still grabbing the outside course. What you shouldn’t do is start pulling pavers to “see what’s underneath.” Once you break the edge, you’ve loosened the field, and reassembling a paver pattern with proper joint spacing takes a vibratory plate compactor and experience reading grade. The compacted base is a structural layer. Hand-tamping a 200-square-foot patch doesn’t reproduce it. If your pavers are just dirty or lightly stained, by all means, clean and re-sand the topmost joints carefully. If there’s any dip deeper than an inch or pavers are rocking, the base is talking. FAQs

Properly installed Tremron concrete pavers in Orange County generally last 25 to 40 years as a surface, but the base underneath matters more than the stone. A well-compacted base on stable soil can outlast the first set of pavers. A bad base will ruin new pavers within five to ten years. Most Orange County failures we see are base and edge issues, not paver wear.
Yes, if the base under that section is still sound and the rest of the driveway shows no movement, a local repair is practical. We cut out the damaged area, rebuild the base, and re-lay the pavers with matching or complementary Tremron stock. We hold a free, written estimate no matter which path you choose, call (424) 541-1701 and we’ll send someone to look.
A standard two-car Orange County paver driveway teardown and re-install usually takes three to five working days from first cut to final plate compaction. Weather in Orange County rarely stalls paver work, though the one thing that does is discovering an old concrete slab underneath that needs saw-cutting and haul-off, which adds a day. You’ll get a defined arrival window and a written schedule before we start.
We source Tremron pavers direct from regional suppliers and hold common Orange County styles and colors in our order pipeline: Holland stones, Sierra, and Mega-Arbel. We don’t keep full pallets sitting at the shop for every possible color lot, but we can typically have your exact Tremron line on site within a few business days. For older color lots, we’ll pull samples and dry-lay before install so you see the match first.
