Delta Driveway & Pavers: The Orange County Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Delta-compatible driveway and paver components across Orange County, with typical installed paver driveways running $7,000 – $18,000 depending on square footage, base prep, and paver line. Most owners discover a failed paver part the same way: a sunken edge near the garage apron, a joint that’s washed out after a heavy rain, or a cracked unit right where the car tires track every morning. It’s rarely the whole driveway that fails. It’s almost always one edge, one low spot, or one section where the base underneath finally gave out. That’s a repair, not a replacement, and it’s usually something we can price in writing after one site visit.
Which Delta Models This Applies To
Delta’s driveway and paver products rarely carry a model number stamped on the surface the way a faucet or cabinet line would. The identification lives in the paver dimensions, the color blend, and sometimes a code stamped on the underside of the unit. Common Delta paver profiles we see in Orange County run 60mm and 80mm thicknesses for vehicular use, with 80mm being the correct choice for anything that carries a car or SUV. The 60mm units are pedestrian-grade, and the single biggest compatibility mistake we see is a previous contractor laying 60mm pavers on a driveway, which shows edge chipping and cracking within a few years. For replacement units, matching the color blend matters more than the stamp. Delta’s color lots shift slightly between production runs, so an exact visual match often means sourcing from a current lot rather than pulling a single unit from six months ago. We default to OEM Delta units when the driveway is under ten years old and the color still runs. For older installations where the exact blend is no longer produced, we’ll bring physical samples of quality aftermarket equivalents that match within the visible tolerance. Penhallow Remodeling Orange County is an independent service provider and not affiliated with Delta.

Signs Your Delta Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Sunken edge lines along the driveway border. The edge restraint wasn’t set deep enough or the base aggregate wasn’t compacted at the perimeter, so the outside course drops and the rest follows.
- Washed-out joint sand after rain. Orange County’s dry-season dust settles into the joints, then the first winter rain flushes it out. If the sand keeps disappearing, the bedding layer underneath is also migrating, which leads to rocking pavers.
- Cracked paver right at the garage apron. That’s the highest static load point on the whole driveway, and it’s where we see 60mm pedestrial-grade units fail first. If the crack runs through multiple adjacent units, the base has a void under it.
- Rocking or shifting units when you step on them. A single rocking paver is a base compaction issue. If it’s an entire area, the base thickness was never right for Orange County’s clay-heavy soil, which expands and contracts more than most owners expect.
- Weed growth pushing through seams ahead of the rest of the driveway. Weeds don’t break through compacted base. If they’re up in one section, water is pooling under that exact spot and the base has already started to fail.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

A full paver driveway installation in Orange County runs $7,000 – $18,000, depending on square footage, paver thickness, and how much base excavation and compaction the site needs. A repair, which is what most Delta owners actually need, lands well below that: re-setting an edge course, replacing a cracked section, or re-compacting a low spot typically falls between $800 and $3,500.
Every quote we write breaks down the parts and labor separately. The paver units themselves are the parts cost. The labor covers removing the failed section, evaluating the base (this is where we find the real problem), re-compacting with the right aggregate, and re-laying the units. We don’t quote a repair and then discover the base is shot after we’re already into the job. The base inspection is part of the written price, and if we find something that changes the scope, we stop and show you before any additional work happens. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers every driveway repair in writing. If the paver section we fixed fails within a year, we come back and make it right at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things on your own: look for standing water after rain, walk the driveway and mark any paver that rocks, and check the edge restraint along the grass line. Replacing a single paver in a low-traffic area is approachable if you’re comfortable digging out the unit and resetting it. What goes wrong on DIY driveway repairs is always the base. If the aggregate underneath has failed or shifted, lifting the paver and putting it back only hides the problem for about a month, and then the same paver sinks again. Orange County’s clay soil expands and contracts hard through the year, and a repair that doesn’t address the base is a temporary patch. For anything involving more than a single unit, a border course, or any section that carries a vehicle, give us a call at (424) 541-1701. We’ll come look at it, explain what’s actually failing under the surface, and give you a written number before any tool comes off the truck. Give you the number first, then pick up the tool.
FAQs

A properly installed 80mm vehicular paver driveway on a compacted base typically lasts 25 to 40 years in Orange County before the pavers themselves need replacement, though the joint sand needs a refresh roughly every three to five years. The base underneath is the limiting factor, and a bad base will fail inside a decade no matter how good the pavers are. Call (424) 541-1701 for an honest assessment of what’s failing at your site, and we’ll write you a number for the repair.
A cracked paver always gets replaced, not patched, because any repair material will show through and fail under vehicle load within one season. The more important question is why it cracked, and the answer is usually in the base underneath. If you’ve got a crack in one paver, replacing it is straightforward; if you’ve got cracks in three adjacent pavers, the base failed and just swapping units means you’ll do this again next year. Call (424) 541-1701 and we’ll tell you which situation you’re in.
Most paver section repairs that require removing units, re-compacting the base, and re-laying the same pavers take one to two days for a typical residential driveway in Orange County. Larger repairs or border course replacement can stretch to three days, and we’ll give you that timeline in writing before we start. Call (424) 541-1701 and we’ll schedule a site visit to give you an exact schedule.
We stock a range of common Delta-compatible 60mm and 80mm pavers in the color blends most often seen across Orange County driveways, and we source OEM Delta units for active color lots. For older or discontinued blends, we’ll pull physical samples of aftermarket equivalent units and bring them to your site so you can see the match in the actual daylight before we order. Call (424) 541-1701 and we’ll check what’s running in your blend before your driveway gets any worse.
