Jerith Bathroom Remodeling: The Orange County Owner’s Guide
We install and replace Jerith-compatible bathroom hardware and remodeling components throughout Orange County, with full bathroom remodels typically running $9,000 – $28,000 depending on the scope. If you’re dealing with a failed part, a worn finish, or a remodel that was done poorly the first time, we can usually assess it the same week and give you a written price before any work starts. Most owners discover the failure the hard way: a shower door that no longer seals, a vanity that’s pulling off the wall, or tile that’s cracked around an old Jerith shower base.
Call (424) 541-1701 for a free estimate. We’ll tell you what failed, what it costs to fix, and whether the rest of the bathroom is worth saving.
Which Jerith Models This Applies To

Jerith is primarily known for aluminum fencing and railing, but many Orange County homes built in the 1980s and 1990s have Jerith-related bathroom hardware mixed into the build, often through contractor supply channels. What we see most often in Irvine, Tustin, and Mission Viejo homes from that era are Jerith-style shower door frames, tub enclosures, and handrail hardware that share the same aluminum extrusion profiles as Jerith’s exterior railing lines.
The compatibility gotcha with Jerith-era bathroom hardware is the mounting footprint. Many of those older shower enclosures used 1-inch and 1-1/4-inch aluminum framing with wall jambs that were set into the tile at installation. When you replace just the glass or just the rollers, the old frame is usually too worn or corroded to hold the new hardware properly. We’ve pulled apart enough of these to know when a part swap will work and when the frame needs to come out entirely.
For the OEM-versus-aftermarket decision: genuine Jerith replacement parts are still available for some older series through specialty distributors, but lead times run two to six weeks and the pricing rarely makes sense on a mid-90s enclosure. Quality aftermarket equivalents from CRL (C.R. Laurence) and similar glass hardware suppliers often fit with minor drilling adjustments, and they carry their own finish warranties. Trevor Nash can identify your exact configuration from a photo and tell you which route makes sense before you spend a dollar.

Signs Your Jerith Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing
- Shower door rollers skip or grind on the track. The nylon rollers inside the aluminum channel are worn flat, which means the door drags metal on metal. In coastal Orange County air, salt accelerates this wear faster than inland.
- Water seeps under the shower door or tub enclosure frame. This is almost always a failed gasket or a frame that’s shifted off its original silicone bed. What started as a sweated gasket turns into rotted subfloor inside six months if it isn’t caught.
- Aluminum framing shows white oxidation or pitting. That’s galvanic corrosion, and it’s common in Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, and anywhere within a few miles of salt air. Once the anodized surface is breached, the frame keeps corroding under the finish.
- Grab bars or handrails wiggle against the tile. A properly mounted grab bar shouldn’t flex at all. Movement means the anchors are failing inside the substrate (the moisture-resistant layer behind your tile). Continuing to use a loose grab bar is a fall hazard.
- Tile around the old Jerith shower base is disintegrating. If the grout is crumbling and tile is loose within six inches of the base, the waterproofing under it has likely failed. Patching the surface won’t stop what’s happening underneath.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For Orange County homeowners, here’s the honest math. A full bathroom remodel runs $9,000 – $28,000, a small bathroom remodel $5,000 – $12,000, and a tub-to-shower conversion $3,500 – $10,000. If you’re just replacing a shower door, threshold, or grab bar assembly, you’re usually looking at $300 – $1,800 installed depending on what’s behind the wall and whether the surrounding tile can be preserved.
What drives the bigger range is substrate condition. A 1980s Orange County bathroom with failing waterproofing means pulling the shower pan, replacing the cement board substrate, re-sloping the pan, and re-tiling, which is real labor. If the framing is sound and the existing waterproofing is intact, the cost drops significantly.
Every job includes a written price before work starts. Not a range, not a ballpark: a number. If the work fails inside 365 days under our Done Right Promise, we come back and fix it at no charge. That’s in writing on every job.

Some things you can safely check yourself: whether a roller is visibly cracked, whether the gasket is pliable or rock-hard, whether the frame is pulling away from the tile by more than an eighth of an inch. What you shouldn’t do is remove a shower door or tub enclosure frame yourself. Tempered glass is under constant tension, and a drop onto tile turns the whole assembly into a thousand pieces. We’ve seen homeowners save a $200 labor charge and spend $900 on glass cleanup and a new door.
If the framing is seized, the tile has shifted, or the waterproofing is suspect, that’s our job. We’re background-checked and uniformed, we show up in a defined arrival window, and we leave the bathroom cleaner than we found it. The Kingswell Way is simple: say the price before the work, show up when we said we would, and make it right if it isn’t.

FAQs

Inland, 20 to 30 years is realistic. Within five miles of the coast, expect 12 to 18 years before the aluminum shows real corrosion. The glass usually outlasts the frame hardware.
Rollers, gaskets, and sweep seals can be replaced as individual parts, often in a single visit. If the frame is corroded or the glass is scratched beyond polishing, replacement is the honest call, and we’ll tell you that up front. Call (424) 541-1701 and we’ll help you figure out which path makes sense.
A roller or gasket replacement is usually done in under two hours. A full shower enclosure replacement takes a day. A complete tub-to-shower conversion runs three to five working days depending on tile and waterproofing scope.
We stock common CRL roller assemblies, gaskets, and mounting hardware for 1-inch and 1-1/4-inch aluminum frames, which covers most Jerith-era bathroom enclosures in Orange County. For less common profiles, we source the part and schedule the install once it lands. For KraftMaid cabinetry, Cambria countertops, and Silestone surfaces in the same bathroom, we work with those product lines regularly and can coordinate the full scope.
