Silestone Kitchen Remodeling: The Orange County Owner’s Guide

Silestone kitchen remodeling in Orange County typically runs $14,000 to $45,000 installed, depending on countertop square footage, cabinet scope, and whether you’re keeping your existing layout or moving plumbing. Most full-kitchen projects we price land between $22,000 and $32,000 when Silestone counters replace aging laminate or tile. Homeowners usually reach out when a decade-old Silestone countertop has chipped at an edge, a seam has opened up, or a sink cutout shows water damage creeping into the substrate beneath.

We’re an independent Orange County remodeling company that works with Silestone surfaces regularly. We’re not a Silestone dealer or factory affiliate. What we do is price the job honestly, in writing, before anything gets torn out, and we stand behind the finished work with a 365-day promise that says if it isn’t right, we make it right. Trevor Nash, who owns our Orange County operation, learned the trade at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College and has spent decades managing kitchen remodels across Southern California, including plenty of 1980s and 90s homes in Irvine neighborhoods near the Spectrum that are finally shedding their original plastic laminate counters.

Which Silestone Models This Applies To

A stone counter, tile backsplash and open shelf after a kitchen remodel

Silestone’s catalog spans a few distinct lines, and the way we approach your remodel depends partly on which one you have installed. The Classic and Eternal series make up most of the kitchens we walk into in Orange County. They’re available in 1.2 cm, 2 cm, and 3 cm thicknesses, with 3 cm being the standard we see on island slabs and waterfall edges. The newer Sunlit Days and Le Chic collections lean into the same quartz engineering, but they come in more saturated veining patterns that change how seams need to be planned.

The practical takeaway: Silestone is a quartz product, not natural stone. That matters because original quartz counters installed before roughly 2015 often were 2 cm thick with a laminated edge to fake the look of thicker slab. Those laminated edges delaminate. If you’re replacing a section or adding an island, we check whether the existing slab is 2 cm or 3 cm, because you can’t mix thicknesses cleanly across a run of counters. For full remodels, we recommend 3 cm Silestone with a simple eased edge. It holds up better in Orange County’s dry heat and hard water than a polished edge nib that collects mineral buildup.

If you’re pairing a new Silestone top with existing cabinets you’re keeping, we also confirm whether the support rail over the dishwasher opening is present. Older Orange County kitchens frequently had particleboard cabinets, and once those rails get spongy from leaky dishwashers, they need repair before a heavier quartz top goes on. We stock Silestone-compatible slab as well as Cambria and Caesarstone for clients who want to compare, and we work with KraftMaid and Wellborn for cabinet work when you’re replacing boxes rather than refacing.

Signs Your Silestone Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing

  • Chipped edges near the sink or dishwasher return. This is the most common fail point we see. Quartz is hard, but it chips cleanly when a cast iron pan drops at the wrong angle. The deeper issue is often an unsupported overhang beyond the cabinet front, which concentrates stress on a thin lip.
  • Opened seams between slabs. A seam that grows from hairline to credit-card width means the underlying cabinet run has settled or the original installer used too little adhesive. Orange County slab foundations shift slightly during dry years, and countertops on long runs feel that movement.
  • Dishwasher leaks that soften the cabinet face under the Silestone. The counter isn’t failing, but the system around it is. A leaking dishwasher loosens the rail supporting the stone within a matter of months. Left alone, the slab will eventually sag or crack at the dishwasher opening edge.
  • Gray or dark staining around the sink rim. This usually means the original caulk bead failed and moisture wicked into the substrate. Silestone itself is non-porous, so when you see discoloration at the lip, the problem lives underneath the surface, in the plywood or MDF supporting it.
  • Cracked backsplash tiles pulling away from the Silestone. The seam between countertop and backsplash takes daily heat and moisture cycles. If the gap widens or tiles crack along the bottom row, the original installer often set the backsplash directly on the slab without an expansion gap. In Orange County kitchens that see big temperature swings between air conditioning and afternoon heat, that joint needs flex.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A galley kitchen opened up to the dining room with a new peninsula

For a full Silestone kitchen remodeling job in Orange County, our written quotes generally range from $14,000 on the low end for a compact galley kitchen with new Silestone counters, basic cabinet refacing, and a simple tile backsplash, up to $45,000 for a large kitchen where we’re replacing cabinet boxes, moving plumbing, upgrading to a 3 cm Silestone island slab, and installing underlayment and custom cutouts. A countertop-only replacement typically runs $2,000 to $6,500, but kitchens that old often need more than just new tops.

What drives the number most is whether we’re keeping or replacing your cabinets, how many sinks and cooktop cutouts are involved (each one adds fabrication cost), and whether the existing cabinet structure can handle the heavier 3 cm quartz without added supports. Every quote we write includes the Silestone material, fabrication and templating, removal and disposal of the old tops, underlayment repairs where needed, installation, and our 365-day Done Right Promise on the entire scope. The price we hand you before work starts is the number on your invoice. Not an estimate range. Not a verbal ballpark. A fixed written number.

DIY or Call Us?

For issues with Silestone surfaces themselves, the honest answer is: call us. Quartz fabrication, cutting, and installation require diamond tooling and templating equipment that no homeowner should rent for a weekend job. A botched edge polish or a rushed seam leaves you with a visible flaw that never goes away, and Silestone edges are not something you can sand and repour like wood.

What you can safely check yourself: whether the counter surface is actually damaged or whether you’re seeing staining from hard water that needs a quartz-specific cleaner. Look under the sink cabinet for evidence of water intrusion. Check if the seam shifts when you press gently on the slab. Those observations help us price accurately over the phone before we ever schedule a visit. If a repair fails inside our guarantee period, we come back for free. That’s part of the 365-day Done Right Promise, and there’s no service call fee involved. Give you the number first, then pick up the tool.
